This brief introduction (in the form of a presentation) is the result of a workshop given both at UCL and PUC. Praat scripts (for acoustic analysis) Praat scripting is a way to automate measurements in Praat that are otherwise done manually. The objective will be to write robust and easily modifyable scripts for Praat. The materials in this page are my attempt at helping others to use the scripting language to its fullest, and - why not - to use it as a stepping stone to programming in general. It was designed, and continues to be developed, by Paul Boersma. I've had to work with way too many defective scripts in the past, so I thought there was a clear need for this. This book is about Praat, a free computer software package for speech analysis in phonetics.
PRAAT HOW TO
However, it seems most users do not know how to use this feature to its full capacity, and tend to ignore it with great personal cost. Praat has become the defacto tool to perform acoustic analysis in phonetics in particular, and it includes a powerful scripting language which allows researchers to automatize most of its tasks.
